Dans une interview accordée à MetroNews aujourd’hui, les Cats On Trees révèlent revenir d’Afrique du Sud … pour le tournage de leur second clip !

Quelle a été votre réaction lorsque vous avez appris votre nomination aux Victoires de la musique? Yohan Hennequin: Nous n’osions pas en rêver ! Cet album a demandé beaucoup de travail, pas seulement à notre duo, mais également à tous les gens qui nous entourent avec bienveillance depuis nos débuts. Je pense notamment à Pierre Rougean, notre directeur artistique, ou encore à l’équipe de Tôt ou tard, notre label. Cette nomination est une belle récompense pour nous tous.

Vous serez ce soir en concurrence avec Hollysiz et La Femme dans la catégorie « album révélation ». Quels sont vos pronostics? Nous essayons de ne pas y penser. C’est déjà un honneur de se retrouver associés à ces artistes, qu’on apprécie beaucoup, tout comme Phoenix, Elephanz ou Christine and The Queens (également nommés aux Victoires de la musique, ndlr)… Nous avons surtout hâte de présenter notre travail  à tout le milieu, d’autant que nous allons avoir la chance de jouer avec un orchestre symphonique. Le trophée, c’est presque accessoire. Quoique… cela pourrait faire joli sur la cheminée ! Plus sérieusement, nous sommes déjà ravis de l’accueil qui a été réservé à notre album.

Entre les promos et les concerts, trouvez-vous encore le temps de retourner à Toulouse? Cela fait longtemps que nous ne nous sommes pas posés dans notre local, même si on essaie de revenir chez nous le plus souvent possible. C’est là où nous nous sommes construits et où nous pouvons nous développer sereinement. Mais il nous faut aussi profiter des opportunités qui se présentent et rester ouverts sur l’extérieur. Ces derniers mois ont été jalonnés de surprises: nous revenons par exemple d’un tournage de clip en Afrique du Sud!

Quel sera votre prochain rendez-vous avec le public toulousain? Ce sera le 25 mai, pour le week-end des curiosités du Bikini. C’est un honneur d’y être invités car nous savons que c’est un événement important pour les Toulousains. Depuis notre concert à la Dynamo en décembre dernier, notre show a évolué. Nous serons fiers de le présenter à nos proches.

Quel regard portez-vous sur la scène toulousaine actuelle? Il y a un vrai bouillonnement culturel, de belles découvertes à faire, notamment avec le Common Diamond ou encore Alone With Everybody. C’est une scène très riche, une belle vitrine pour la ville et la région. C’est pourquoi il faut soutenir ces artistes : la musique est un art compliqué, qui demande beaucoup de passion, de temps, de dévouement mais aussi de ressources.
